random ramblings of a 24 year old college graduate (currently in grad school) who loves to read, aspires to write, and dreams of showing everyone else that she made it in spite of life's circumstances.

Here you'll find postings of the things I like, love, and find interesting.

<3 Hayley Williams, Chris Brown, Ashley Greene, Justin Nozuka, Taylor Lautner, Naya Rivera, Alexander Skarsgard, and Jackson Rathbone.

Also, I am a lover of all things food, curly hair, and Jesus. =)

I think Nora is taken aback by just how serious Eric is. I think that tight grip around her head pretty much let her know.

Did you know that there were Human Zoos on display in Europe and America from the 1870’s to the 1950’s? These public exhibits of humans, often called Negro Villages, usually showed indigenous people in a so-called natural or primitive state. The displays often emphasized the cultural differences between Europeans of Western civilization and non-European peoples. Above is a photo from Amsterdam Holland around 1890, of an African child in one of these Human Zoo exhibits, being fed like an animal by white spectators.

Excerpts from her Billboard Magazine interview:

On Loving Hood Music and Being “The White Nicki Minaj”:

“A lot of people wanted to try to make me the white Nicki Minaj. That’s not what I’m trying to do. I love ‘hood’ music, but my talent is as a singer.”

On Critics Who Say She’s Losing Herself:

“That’s been kind of a trip: It’s not like I’m losing who I am — I actually found out more about who I am by making this music. I’m going on a journey, and that’s more than a lot of 20-year-olds can say. And I’m still going to change so much. Because I’m not the same person I was six months ago — I’m not even the same person I was two weeks ago.”

On Her New Song, “We Can’t Stop,” Produced by Mike Will Made It:

“I’m 20 years old and I want to talk to the people that are up all night with their friends. It’s based on a true story of a crazy night I had: When I heard the song for the first time, it captured exactly what I was living. I didn’t make this song for the critics, but for the people living it.”

On Her Urban Influence:

“I’ve always wanted country-rock influences, but now I’m moving over to a more urban side. It’s not a hip-hop album, though-it’s a pop album. I’m not coming in trying to rap. It’s more like, ‘I don’t see any girls out there doing what Miguel and Frank Ocean are doing.’”

Excerpt fromsongwritersTimothy and Theron’s Vibe Magazine interview

Recently, the songwriters of the new record “We Can’t Stop,” which Rihanna passed on and was later given to Miley, had this to say“When you listen to the Miley Cyrus record that we did, it’s not ratchet but it definitely has a lot of urban feel to it,” Timothy said. “She was like, ‘I want urban, I just want something that just feels Black.’”

Miley, tell me. What does black feel like? Smh.

SN: It amazes me how people will excessively reblog gifs of Miley demonstrating how to shake a long back, but they’ll scroll right pass this post…
